Upon our arrival here to Guam we were allowed to stay at the Branch office for a month or so. Making us feel very welcome, we just thought about settling in! But of course that was not a viable option.
During that time, we adjusted to our new surroundings, congregation and life in the big island of Guam. After Jehovah helped us find a great car for service, within two weeks of moving, we were off to find our new home. There is no shortage of apartments here, however it is another thing to find a decent apartment for a reasonable price. It is still an island where the thought of living in a beautiful place should cost an exorbitant price. We found studio apartments starting at $1,300 a month to 2 bedroom apartments running more that $2,800 a month. Ouch! Here are a sampling of some:
Two bedroom with interesting neighbors. |
Studio with a partial view of the ocean. |
of course we also had to look for a few pieces of furniture. This too proved to be very challenging task.
It was not just for display. Yes, they were having lunch on this table in the showroom. |
Our home! |
After looking for weeks Jehovah helped us find a lovely place in the middle of everything. During our apartment hunting we scoured the whole island. We looked to the south, as far north as we could go before reaching the Airfare base, central part, and on the east and west coasts.
There were many that we liked, but way over priced. We found more of that because of the supposed military build up here. But after looking so thoroughly and being disappointed many times we found our new home. We are minutes away from our Kingdom Hall, in a great location for our preaching in the Chuukese field and lots of shopping!
